Worldwide Lyme Protest

MAY 2013

If you don't know yet, get on board! We need people everywhere, from all walks of life, to help bring the word about the fast-spreading infection of Lyme disease all over the world. The target month is May 2013. Some countries try to aim specifically for the weekend of May 11 and 12, but that is a very busy weekend in the USA with annual festivals, etc.

In Brampton, Ontario (Canada) we had our successful Lyme Awareness day on the Saturday of the Victoria Day weekend, which is usually the third weekend in May. The city has already booked the same day for us for 2013, I was told. Nothing final yet, but talks are ongoing.

An event doesn't have to be big or take lots of money and energy. Ask for or rent a table at a community event in your town - at a church, street market, parade, bazaar, or school function. If you want to arrange your own event, talk to the town council, local administration or any contact who can make things happen. Get or make flyers, make a few posters, gather a few friends, wear green and hand out brochures! You can download and print information brochures from CanLyme or Dr. Marukami's site, for instance, or get together with towns in your area and ask a printer to make you a deal.

People are working in Whitby, Niagara area, Markham, Richmond Hill, Ottawa at this point in Ontario. I'm sure that other towns across Canada are doing the same! Please post on this blog under the "comments" field if you are interested or would like to help. Scroll down this post to where you see # Comments; click on that link and a window would open for you to post. If your comment doesn't appear immediately, it might just have to be approved.
You can also visit the Facebook pages, even if you don't have a Facebook account.

Canada is on board for sure, raising awareness on all possible platforms! Link
